Egyptian Cotton Bedding: Keeping It Luxurious

Egyptian cotton bedding is very luxurious and in high demand because of its quality and ability to endure for a long period of time. It is grown in Egypt because the climate is perfect for growing this type of cotton plant. Though it is high quality, it still needs to be taken care of properly. There are some guidelines you should follow to keep the colors vibrant and the bedding looking brand new.

Luxury Bed Sheets - Maintenance With Ease

Usually, the label on the bedding will tell you how to wash it. Use the recommendations given by the manufacturer for maximum benefit. The label will also tell you how much of the bedding is Egyptian cotton and how much of other material is used.

Egyptian cotton bedding set can be machine washed and the temperature of the water used will depend on the color of the bedding. It can be spot cleaned also to eliminate a stain. Always use the gentle machine wash cycle to prevent damage to the sheets or comforters. If you have a dark color set then use warmer water and for lighter colors use cold water to wash it.

If You Want To Hand Wash

If you are washing your Egyptian cotton bedding by hand then you should fill your bathtub with water that is warm. Use mild laundry detergent to clean the material. Direct tap water should work fine but you'll get a better result if you use filtered water. Many houses have whole house filters installed. Once clean, rinse with water and eliminate all of the remaining water.

You can also spot clean your Egyptian cotton bedding sets by using a spray bottle to clean only the area that needs to be cleaned. Gently scrub the affected area with a soft cloth. A wet washcloth works well for this purpose. Allow the item to dry at room temperature or allow the sun in from the window to let it dry. You can spray the item so it smells better. Fabric refresher is a good idea to serve this purpose.

Egyptian cotton bedding can be dried in the dryer but it should always be on the lowest setting. Never use high heat and do not use softener sheets during the drying process because this will prevent the cotton from being breathable. This type of cotton is well known for its breathability and that last thing you want to do is eliminate this feature. The bedding can also be hung on the laundry line outside to try outside. This method can be used only during the warmer months and is not appropriate for year round use.

Egyptian Cotton Bedding - Ironing Optional

The bedding, if it fits on your bed properly, will not need ironing. Simply pull it into place and smooth it down by hand. If you do want to iron it, use the lowest setting to prevent it from being burned. Iron the bedding using an ironing board just like you would for clothes. Because of the weight, it is best to prop the un-ironed portion on something to prevent it from sliding off the ironing board.
